During your stay in Nepal, if traveling solo around places of interest is what is on your mind, then the first thing that hit's your mind foremost is a reliable means of transportation. You can hire a bicycle, mobike, taxi, car, or jeep; but make sure you strike a good bargain first, and if it is a taxi, always make sure you travel by the meter. However, it's important to know that meters in taxis are tampered with, so make sure you tell the reception desk in your hotel to arrange a taxi for you & also ask him to fix the price before you care to use the cab. This would be a better way to ensure you are not ripped off.
Prior to traveling by yourself, it is wise to acquire detailed information about your travel route, safety measures, keeping in mind your time of travel & getting some kind of background information about the native people, the culture, their customs, & the traditions they follow etc. in most cases, a majority of Nepalese people are very helpful and generous. But in some places the local people may not react positively and if you tend to make any queries about certain things they may construe it as an intrusion into their private lives. In the event of such a situation occurring, you will need to be more observant, cautious and sensitive & keep control over your emotions.
As a safer option, you can also hire a guide or go visiting with some local person you can trust & are familiar with. If you possess a knack of getting friendly with people wherever you go; then getting friendly with Nepalese people can be more a boon than bane because some may be willing to guide you around without charging you a penny and most Nepalese people are keen on improving the English they speak..so feel good and whistle a tune of any of your favorite songs as you hike the beaten roads of wonderful NEPAL..just get the feeling like the way you feel at home.
And Zenith Adventures, your travel agent, will always be there to help you explore Nepal, the local way. |
