the former world paragliding champion Horacio Llorens Fernandez set a new acrobatic record by jumping of a helicopter 280 times in eight minutes from a height of 5300m on Saturday.
Fernandez, who hails from Spain, has been flying since 1999. His co-pilot Veso Ovcharov had filmed the stunning display. He said the new record was set while filming a documentary ‘Himalayan Infinity’ which is based on the popular adventure sport of paragliding in Nepal.
‘I am extremely happy to set a new world record in a beautiful place for paragliding,’ Fernandez said. ‘My visit to Nepal will be unforgettable, and I will return soon after I submit the proof of the new record’. While filming for his documentary about paragliding in Nepal he had flown from the famous viewpoint of Sarangkot, Mustangkot and Jomsom. Frontier paragliding in Nepal provided him with all the necessary equipment for the jump.
The world famous lake city of Pokhara started paragliding from 1999 but this was the first time a record had been broken here in a long time. Kudos! For aviation tourism in Pokhara, Nepal.
